GMC has involved in a controversy recently. GMC is the favorite college for most of the medical students. Around 2000 students left stranded for a night along with their parents due to the indecision of Directorate of Medical Education (DME).
To make the students evacuate the premises of college, the authorities have turned off the air-conditioning and later the power supply. The students had to spend all the night in auditorium halls and the corridors to sleep. Students complained that they couldn’t finish the web counseling as the server of GMC had crashed.
Students didn’t even have access to proper food or water. DME halted admission for private medical colleges after an Indire high bench order. MP High Court on hearing the matter delayed the decision to opening up admissions to MBBS and BDS all over the India. The decision was scheduled for 2:30 P.M Thursday.
When asked about the crash of servers GMC officials said that servers were hacked at the time of counseling. Dr. Anand Rai, the Vyapam whistle blower spoke about the issue in a News channel. He said that the GMC is involved in the scam of selling the seats. GMC officials said that after the decision has been taken, only the available seats will be allotted to counseling students. This statement clearly tells us that GMC has been selling its seats and the government is not taking action against it.
