Petrol and Diesel prices are on rise shorty some days after the demonetization came into effect. The state governments have also increased the VAT taxes and Madhya Pradesh has the highest of all.
Have a look:-
A picture shows the graphical representation of the VAT taxes in different states of India. Madhya Pradesh has highest amount of tax of 31% calculating to 21.56 rupees. The amount of VAT on diesel in MP is ridiculous and people are not happy about the increase in petrol an diesel prices especially after the demonetization of old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.
Delhi has the lowest amount of VAT on Diesel which is 12.50%. The second highest is in Uttar Pradesh with 17.48% VAT on Diesel. Third place is taken by Rajasthan and fourth is taken by Gujarat with 22% and 24.63% respectively. Maharastra and Chhattisgarh end up just before Madhya Pradesh with equal amount of VAT of 25%.
The government could’ve reduced the VAT taxes on petrol and diesel when the demonetization is in effect to help general public but instead the government increased the prices.
